If multiple players bid on the same dog, the highest bid wins and the player with the losing bid must choose from what remains that wasn't successfully bid on by another player. Often this means that they must "choose one of the remaining dogs" when there is only one dog remaining. In this scenario, it would make sense to me to just give that player the one remaining dog, as there is no actual choice for the player to make. Doing this could help speed up turn-based games because you don't need to wait for the player to take their turn just to do something that is forced upon them anyway.
