The rules for the royal guard that are use in all modes of the game correspond to the "new royal guard" and as mentioned by the creators of the game[1], this new royal guard (introduced in the nobility expansion) was an alternative to the previos one (shipped with the base game).
It would be great to be able to choose the original royal guard rules when playing the base game.
