Hi, thanks for the report. I can confirm you that I talked about cases like this with the designer of the game themselves in the past, and no, you are not able to utilize the resources gained from the action itself, to perform quick actions during it. The action is atomic, you spend the necessary resources first, you do the action, you gain the token, but at this point the action has already ended. It's the same reason why you can't use coins gained from a work action to increase the value of the work action and move an additional space, if you started with less than 2 coins.

I'll take your word for it but the rulebook is incredibly misleading and poorly written. Not sure how activate its effects translates to not use.

Under Travel
"When your Scientist passes over a Bonus token, take it and activate its effect. If your Scientist finishes its movement on a City, University, Ancient Land, Objective or Master space, take a Travel cube from your Study board and place it on that space."

Pg 9
Under Quick Actions
"Before, during or after performing a Basic Action, you can spend Coins to perform any number of the following quick actions."

Pg 12
"When your Scientist or one of your Students passes over a Bonus token (you do not have to finish your movement on the token), take it, activate its effect and keep it next to your Study board."

I agree the rules are not explicit on this one. They are explicit on the quick actions part, but the don't say whether you can access action rewards as you go or they get moved in your possession all in one go at the end of the action. As far as I can understand, after having also exchanged some quick messages with the designer, it's the latter here.

Thanks for the confirmation! I'll play according to the rulebook IRL since it plays on the setup of combos and makes for more interesting game play.
