Based on Lowenhigh’s 7/31/24 11:24am ET post in #rulebook-and-game-questions, skills should not be a selectable option unless there is a valid target in range. A good example is Michael’s Overhand (BGA issue #131936). Another example is mid-way through Michael’s Mighty Smite; I was able to move 2 spaces to an adjacent target, and then if I wanted to, BGA would’ve let me me continue to move 1 more space to get to a saint, but I’d be out of range of my target. That extra space that would end my action out of range of my target needs to be disallowed.

• Vennligst forklar hva du ønsket å gjøre, samt hva du faktisk gjorde og hva som skjedde
Yes, not sure which move number, but it’s when Michael moves to attack a Hateful Fiend with Mighty Smite. I think the 2nd or 3rd round.

Rapporthistorikk
The referenced Discord post:
"I'd prefer to keep targeting requirements as they are, because skilled players won't benefit from this very much, and new players will be hurt a lot. That said, technically you always resolve skills top to bottom, left to right. You spend the action first, gain/spend the courage, then resolve the skill. Similar to demons, if you do not have a valid target, your skill ends. My recommendation for anyone looking to get that little extra juice out of the system is to stop being n00b and get more skillz so you don't need to waste actions like that 😆." - Lowenhigh (Game Designer)
BGA Guidelines prohibit removing these possibilities: boardgamearena.com/doc/BGA_Studio_Guidelines

III-2 Be careful about player assistance
As a rule of thumb, in order to respect the original board games, you should not introduce any player assistance feature. An assistance must not be introduced if it directly helps the player to figure out if his move is good or bad. An assistance may be introduced if it can help the player to figure out what moves are available.

"Disallow skills that don’t have valid target"
changed to
"Add Beginner mode option: Shield skills that don’t have valid target"
To provide some bonus info: Andrew was replying to the below caution about contradicting the rulebook. He said to keep them as needing valid targets so as to not contradict the rulebook (i.e. skills are not available for use if they don’t have a valid target):
discord.com/channels/744979588366729227/792895031198351370/1268201175212232788
Here’s the rule it contradicts on page 18 of the rulebook, it’s pretty black and white:

However, this has been added where it's applicable.
