Having upvoted this, I've noticed the rules are explicit that only the most recent trick may be inspected.

Therefore, if this is implemented, it should be a configurable option.

I suspect that the rules are to prevent the game jamming up rather than to make the game explicitly a memory one. The log shows what has been played, and people can write things down, it's just a matter of making what's already public knowledge more visible and clear.

It's not really any different from the way that BGA has implemented the knowledge gained in Hanabi, for example.

I think the current development is already quite wrong regarding the original rules. To implement this option will make the game still more easy which means it will decrease the interest of it.
The goal of cooperative game is to create some struggle for the team. If everything is eased... then what is the interest to play it ?

@Remi_R: You can already do it by checking the logs.
Some player like to have no memory aspect (like in hanabi) which let us goes more deep into strategy.

It's not remove all things which make the team struggle, it's remove the things which don't add anything into the strategy.

It could be done with another circle in the green 'square' which, when you put the mouse on it, display the card missing.

Even if the log was modified to not show the tricks other than the most recent one (which would be more correct per the rules, though maybe not possible), players could still just write down things (though one could argue that this is also against the rules) or just remember it in their head (that can't really be against the rules)?

Maybe this could be a table option (i.e. house rule), though? As a play group, you either allow looking back through previous tricks (and then also facilitate this by making a easy-to-review discard pile, rather than having to look back through the log), or you decide to play by the rules strictly and not show the discard pile (and, if possible, maybe also remove all but the last trick from the log)?

This goes against the rules, see page 4 on the left side bar.

Tricks that are won are placed face down; only the last trick can be looked at.

After reading more of the comments, I would like to point out that "remember" what has and has not been played is a basic track taking thing. It is called card counting and most trick taking games work this same way. Part of the game is leaning how to count cards and what cards to count. Bridge, Pinochle, Hearts, Spades, all require you to learn how to count cards.

I think the easiest way to solve this issue is as Matthijs Kooijman suggests - have an option when setting-up the game:
1) No information - no discard pile, no logs.
2) Full information - tricks shown in the log and also a sorted discard pile that you can examine.

As an avid Bridge and Spades and Hearts player, my take is that card counting is part of the skill of the game, and looking back in the log is akin to cheating. So I am definitely against showing the discards in an organized way.

Make it an option to see the discards in a table. It's trackable information, and many game groups treat all trackable information as open information, even when the official rules say to keep the info hidden.

I love all the people that talk about card counting is the secret. Try playing multiple Turn based games where you only make one play every couple of days. A single hand can last a week or two.

My group having an option doesn't hurt your group choosing not to play with it. The ELO is non sensical for this game, so let us play in a way that we will enjoy more.
