In some of my Alhambra games, the money and buildings were in a position which made it impossible for me to put tiles on the left of my Alhambra, or move any tiles to/from that direction. My money also cover's/d a part of my player information regarding the tiles I have, my score etc. The more money I have, the less of the player information I can see. It doesn't happen in all my games, its about 50/50.
I have attached a screen shot to show exactly what I mean.

my interface was messed up, I had a permanent huge display of scoring table that moved my alhambra to the left and it was partially hidden beneath player information so I could not fully access it. also my money was displayed in a row next to the general game board blocking my view of player info

I put a side and bottom bordered tile (one tile total) underneath the main tile then I was unable to place any more tiles anywhere.
