a "hand" (aka team) consists of 3 forwards, 2 defensemen, and 1 goalie

when the game starts, each player draws a hand from the three player pools/decks

after each player has "drafted" their team, the season begins.

season

 someone goes first
 each turn, each player may draft a player, trade a player with another team or play a game against another player.
   - draft : pick a card (plyr) from your hand place it at the bottom of the appropriate deck and pull the top card from that deck
   - trade : pick another player ... they lay their hand out face down ... you select a card, pick a card which matches suit (position) and give to them
   - game  : (1) pick another player ... (2) each of you create a deck from your hand by ordering the cards as desired ... 
             (3) each pull top card from deck and compare (repeat 6 times, until all cards exhausted) ... if tied, reorder and repeat til 1st goal (WBCv2)
                -- if one card is goalie no goal (unless both goalies, then highest card value scores goal) ... (see WBCv1)
                -- if neither card is a goalie, compare the point values and the highest card scores a goal
                -- if one of cards is a brawler (red cross), other is injured (all else is as above)
                -- after game, draft procedure to replace injured players (home first) ... does not count against limit of 4
           WBC Variant 1 : if 1 is goalie the non-goalie rolls a die (if both goalies, no goal regardless). if goalie value is greater dr=6 scores. if 
                           equal, dr>4 scores. if goalie value is smaller, dr>3 scores.
           WBC Variant 2 : during regular season, if tied after 6 cards ... shootout ... use WBCv1 rules ... order other 5 ... highest after 5 wins, if 
                           still tied, reorder non goalie cards again and first to score (when other doesn't wins) ... post season still use sudden death
                           overtime rules
           Special Rules / Restrictions:
                (1) Players are restricted to initiate maximum of 4 trades, and conduct maximum of 4 drafts per season
                (2) When selecting an opponent for a game, may not choose an opponent for 2nd game until played all others once ... nor 3rd until all
                    others twice, and so on
                (3) Player challenged is home team, home team starts game with 1 - 0 lead.

    first player to 9 wins ends the season 1st place and 2nd place (wins) ... play bestof7 game post season

postseason

 best of 7 championship (#1 is home for 1,2,5,7 (as reqd)) overtimes are sudden death
