wispwood
Is that a light at the end of the… branch?
A curious cat prowls into the forest, lured by flickering lights of all colors dancing through the trees. What are they? Oh, the wisps from the old tales! Each one sparkles with charm and mischief, carrying a unique personality. Can you guide them just right and make your forest the brightest?
Welcome to Wispwood, a magical place populated by glowing wisps. On your turn, choose a wisp tile and a shape to place in your personal grid — your very own growing forest. Each wisp has desires about where it wants to shine, and even the magical trees have preferences! You'll aim to meet their expectations across three scoring rounds. Between rounds, the forest shifts — fading and expanding — yet the wisps you've already placed remain, shaping the possibilities ahead.
With each game, new goal cards redefine the wisps' whims, ensuring your forest grows in a unique way every time. Enter the forest and explore the magic of Wispwood!

Regelsammendrag
Wispwood
In Wispwood, players act as wisps navigating a magical forest to gather resources, recruit forest creatures, and gain nature's favor. The core mechanic involves balancing actions between light and shadow.
Game Objective
The player with the most Victory Points at the end of the game wins. Points are earned through:
- Recruited creature cards in your forest.
- Completed favor cards (objectives).
- Remaining resources and special abilities.
Game Flow
The game is played over a series of rounds. On your turn, you must perform three steps in order:
1. Play Card & Move
- Choose a hand card and play it onto an empty slot at the edge of the board.
- Move your Wisp pawn on the forest grid. The card played determines the distance or the destination (based on color or symbol).
- Light & Shadow: Pay attention to whether the space is in light or shadow, as this dictates the power or type of your next action.
2. Perform Action
Execute the action of the space where your Wisp landed. Common actions include:
- Gather Resources: Collect nectar, spores, or crystals from the supply.
- Cleanse Forest: Remove negative markers or obstacles.
- Gain Favor: Draw a new objective card that provides end-game points.
3. Recruit Creature (Optional)
- After your movement, you may buy one creature from the display.
- Pay the cost in resources (nectar/spores).
- Place the creature in your personal forest area. They provide immediate bonuses, ongoing effects, or end-game scoring.
Key Symbols & Categories
Use these icons to guide your tactical decisions:
- Sun/Moon (Light Status): Spaces in the light often yield more resources, while shadow spaces may offer tactical flexibility or cheaper recruitment.
- Nectar (Yellow): The primary resource for most creatures.
- Spores (Blue): A rarer resource often needed for powerful effects.
- Crystals (Purple): Wild resources or used for special high-tier cards.
- Paw/Wing: Creature categories that are essential for card synergies and scoring.
End of Game
The game ends when the creature deck is exhausted or a player has placed a specific number of cards in their forest. A final scoring of cards and objectives determines the winner.
